A Day to Remember – Kwintus, 2025

It was 2025 when we visited Kwintus, a kind of living-room-style community centre for people facing mental health challenges, addiction, and the many difficulties that life can bring.

There, a beautiful wish was expressed: to take these people out for a day. To give them a chance to step away from their daily routine. A day without worries, without obligations, and without the familiar struggles of everyday life. Just a day to enjoy themselves, to be together, and to feel that they belonged.

But how do you organise something like this for more than forty people?

Once again, we experienced what can happen when people open their hearts and work together. Through a good friend and business connection, we were able to borrow a city bus completely free of charge.

And so, with more than forty people, we set off together for Tropicana.

When we arrived, a warm welcome was waiting for us: a cup of coffee and a piece of cake.

It may sound like something small. A cup of coffee, a piece of cake, a bus ride and a day out. But sometimes it is precisely these simple moments that can mean so much to someone.

We enjoyed the day together. There were conversations, laughter, and, most importantly, people who took the time to listen.

And then we saw something that was perhaps more beautiful than anything we could have organised that day:

a smile.

A smile that seemed to say that, for a moment, someone felt free. Free from the worries and struggles that normally occupied their minds. A smile that said:

“Today, I belong. Today, I am part of this. Today, I can simply enjoy myself.”

This day was not made possible by one person.

It came together through cooperation, generosity, donations, and people who were willing to offer not only their hands, but also their time, their attention, and their hearts.

Because sometimes helping someone does not mean solving their problems.

Sometimes, helping simply means being there.

A listening ear.
A little attention.
An invitation to come along.
A cup of coffee.
A smile.

And perhaps that is the most beautiful lesson we took home from our day at Kwintus:

We do not always have to do something big to make a difference. Sometimes it is enough to make someone feel seen, valued, and included.

Through cooperation, generosity, and genuine involvement, we were privileged to create a day in 2025 that may have seemed simple, but meant something special to many of the people who were there.

And for that, we are deeply grateful.

Because together, we can make a difference.
